Destroyed Buildings - Anyone make them?

PostFri Aug 04, 2017 1:09 am

Does anyone make destroyed buildings suitable for DZC? I think a mound of rubble would so much better than a blank spot on the board.

Any leads would be appreciated.

Thanks

Gary
(And please don't suggest I make them myself as I have no modeling skills nor do I have the time to do so)

Pretty cool ruin terrain, modular, and can be magnetized:

Blotz here has TONS of buildings including ruined buildings:

I know Hotdrop Gary was making some ruined buildings that he was going to cast. Maybe he'll sell some when he finally gets to making them.

Green Stuff Industries also makes plastic rubble markers (not sure what to call them) that are slightly larger than the footprint of all of the four types of standard cardstock Hawk buildings, and look like a pile of rubble. They're really quite excellent.

The modular ruin terrain you mention was inspired by a modular system designed by Major Awesome and made by a friend of ours who has very good access to a laser cutter. The difference is, Major Awesome's version is one shape (an angle) that you can make into any number of combinations, and represent any sized and shaped structure that has come down, while the design that Rich of GSI (Novus here) came up with is one entire building, and doesn't give you the flexibility that Major Awesome's design allows for. Still very cool stuff, but I'd love to see the Major's design go into production somewhere...

Yeah unfortunately I don't think those rubble markers are available anymore... I have some, they are vacuum formed, and they are pretty useful.

Yes - I have 7. Most are around 4x6" or 3x5" just small enough to count as any building footprint: http://imgur.com/2hGCtA9 you can see a handful here dotted between the overpass.

Mostly sprues, extra buildings bits, and junk from around my office at work I broke apart (white out rollers, coffee stirrers, and so on)

So, they're like, collector's items now?

:o

Seriously, that's a shame. I think they're quite nice...

If you are referring to the Green Stuff Industries rubble markers, yeah, I stopped making those. With home brew equipment it became a giant pain to make the because there was no consistent manufacturing process that would work for me. One night everything would work perfectly and I could bang out a bunch, no problem. The next night I would be lucky if I had one successful draw in 20 using the exact same set up. In the end, the laser cut stuff is easier to design, more reliably made, packaged, and shipped.

If someone still wants a set or two of the old rubble markers, I can drag the stuff out of the closet and make some. Just let me know.

Oh, good to know! I'd been thinking of getting some, but waiting until I had space. It's too bad they were trouble to make: they looked perfect for the job.

If you have access to a 3D printer you can make your own: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2156026
