Version 2 Beta rules incoming?

I refuse to use Facebook, but a friend on it says the rumour is beta rules are being released this Friday. ..... anyone else heard this, or is that nonsense?

It's true. We also got some snippets of the rules. You can have forests which act like buildings an defoliator weapons which act on forest even more severe than demolisher weapons on buildings.

Pretty much everything we've seen so far matches what we were told previously.

1) Attack Runs for Fast Movers, with the option to linger for an additional round.
----Fun tidbit, if a Fast Mover is destroyed, you have to roll to bring on your next Fast Mover as air command considers it too hot for the asset.

2) Freed transports. New system for identifying which types of units a Dropship can pickup.

3) Flame. Flame now causes a special form of "Fire damage" to buildings. This fire damage can automatically causes "Collateral" damage. Which I presume is the new "Falling Masonry".

4) Annnd of course... Drop and Shoot with a +2 shoot penalty. Currently sounds like they consider Shooting to use a "embark/Disembark" action and you are not allowed to embark post-shooting. IF that's the case, than you can't embark/disembark/shoot... so you can only drop and shoot every other round.

That's what I can recall from Facebook.

There are also buildings which give various bonuses, one that was mentioned allowed additional attack runs.

The fire rules seem straight lifter from the old car wars rules.

Skimmers no longer need to move at all for the to-hit penalty to kick in, am I reading that correctly? That seems to be a new change (or I missed it before).


Skimmers are also highly agile, able to perform
evasive manoeuvres when traveling at high
speed. As such, weapons shooting at Skimmers
suffer a +2 modifier to their Ac rating. AA
weapons do not suffer this modifier, since they’re
designed to successfully track targets much
faster than this!

Previously it was ruled that skimmers could stand in place and get the bonus with the assumption they were just circling in place, so the bonus was in play pretty much every turn except the turn they disembarked from a transport (since no skimmer had a 12" move).

Indeed with the exception of the Yari. ;)
