I've been toying with the idea of getting a scourge starter and glueing fake eyelashes to the bottom of the tanks to try and make it look like they walk on lots of thin tendrils. But alas, one for the backlog.

They are not as fragile as they look and you can magnetize the legs. I wrote a guide about that : http://posthumangamer.blogspot.fr/2014/11/magnetizing-anihilator.html

Thanks, will look into that. Alternatively, I was thinking on gluing it in a fixed position, then mark actual status with a token.

I drilled 3-4 small pin holes (e.g. one at each corner) and put ~1-2mm of pin sticking out of the bottom of each hole, then put a thick drop of paint/primer at the end of each pin. It's just enough that they look like they're hovering, but not enough that it interferes with mounting them in the marauder.

Thanks for further suggestions.

From a modeling standpoint, are plastic and resin versions different (i.e. in size, shape, etc) or I can mix them in the same squad without any visual difference, once painted?

The details on the plastics are a bit shallower, but a mixed squad should look fine.

My scourge tanks have a magnet on the bottom. I made bases from the small flight stands with the widget fixed into the base, magnet on the open end (top).
Now I can fit the tanks into a Marauder without base, then add base to 'hover' when deployed. Makes storage simple and used on the APCs and heavies too.

I use Citadel flying bases to mount my PHR grav tanks on. Works a treat! :D
You're going to need a MUCH bigger gun my friend!
