Brexit, Hawk and the hobby

PostFri Jun 24, 2016 9:10 am

My initial idea was to write something about how the Brexit could affect our hobby, Hawk and what is to come – but actually I’m just sad at the moment.

It always felt good to be close together and knowing that the Brits had a hand on the wheel too.

I hope it turns out well for all of us in the end. Good luck to all of you.

The optimist in me thinks that the folk involved will want to preserve the status quo as much as possible. That means trade with the EU ought to remain more or less as-is. Probably a little more expensive and a little more bureaucratic, but still exist. As far as I can tell, Hawk's manufacturing is mostly British. Assuming the whole lot doesn't go down the pan, they'll continue to sell us expensive but lovely toy soldiers (and SPACESHIPS!!!!) for the forseeable.

I think there is a lot more scare than there needs to be.

I don't see the UK moving to cut ties with europe, and Hawk may even benefit, if there is a reduction in annoying red tape.

All comes down to what deal gets made.

I really wouldn't freak out yet, regardless.

So then England and the US could become one continuous country. We could rename it Oceania.

Oceania has always been at war with Eastasia.

The way things are, I would guess Mars is a better candidate to become the 51st state.
