Samael's plog, this might take a while

PostSun Feb 09, 2014 8:40 pm

Rather than clutter up the show case section each time I finish a unit, I thought I would gather all of my stuff here. It will also give me incentive to pain faster and not get distracted.

first of all my start set work (which has already cluttered up the showcase forum!)

Scourge
Infantry

tanks

Drop ships

UCM
An APC

need to paint more human stuff

my order that arrived on Tuesday
Image
Intruders A
Intruders B
Prowlers
Destroyers
Reavers
Desolator
Praetorian snipers
Falcon Gunships
Raven As
Raven Bs
Kodiak
Condor
Wolverines

I have built and undercoated all of it (the desolator's legs are not attached for painting) I have also used magnets for the first time. My Intruder Bs can now swoop in and pick up the Prowlers, which I have done (making the swooshing noises),the wolverines and choose which weapon to take (this probably doesn't need magnets, but I was on a roll and the Reavers can pivot their plasma lances

Thanks mr flash

And indeed the pink evil is the most evil of all evil, apart form those that invade wearing sparking sequins. Fear them the most!

If this is the quality of your output, then we don't care if it might take a while. Wonderful job. Keep it up!
Which reminds me, I should redo that Desolater pic.

Thanks everyone.

I've managed to up the pass and I have this week off, barring about 5 hours of marking, so I am hoping to get the majority painted. Should be doable, washes are much quicker than highlighting.

I have also changed the order of my painting. I am panning in completing the aircraft and infantry first, that way I can start using the in games.

I have also changed my UCM scheme, making it much lighter.

Originally the painting order was
Dawn stone
Nuln oil
Dawn stone patches
Nuln oil

Now it is
Dawn stone
Administratum grey patches
Nuln oil

So without too much further ado I give you AASC company of the CCXVI legion

Raven A

Raven B

Falcon

The entire air arm

Now onto my scourge flyers.

Only problem is I have forgotten the recipe.

I know it starts off
Emperors children purple
Carroburg crimson
Bolt gun metal for the exhausts and vents
Then Druchii violet, but I am not sure if it is a whole model wash, or just the metal areas.

I can't tell by looking at my models!

I've managed to finish off my scourge flyers today. The purple wash on the vents wasn't perfect, so I will touch it up later.

Until then, may I introduce you to your benevolent squid overlords

Firstly the king of destruction himself, the Desolator

Next some intruder A

And the beta versions as well

And with some WIP prowlers
Image

Some Reavers with possible plasma lances
Image

All scourge air units

Finally, the most embarrassing encounter ever in the history of DZC

Why can't aircraft at least attempt to fire at each other? is this WWI where pilots would wave at each other and share cups of tea?

As predicted I managed to totally forget to continue to paint my expanded UCM and scourge starter sets. So since I'm on holiday I tried to make amends for my (almost year long) lapse. And as such have managed to paint a few more models.

First up some braves

Next a tomahawk

Finally a warstrider.

The plan was to start with a bright blue and use washes to get to a purple. However I have instead found a great way to paint crimson "let's blow up our own fortress monastery" fists.

I also, in a strange sort of way, like how my scourge are bright and vibrant and the shaltari are more muted in colour.
