Golem Garys shiney new scourge project

PostFri Feb 14, 2014 9:27 pm

So I have decided to start up a small second army, and having painted up a scourge tank from the starter which i actually like the colours for I am going ahead with the force. As well as finished models when they are done ill be updating with a step by step guide to how I'll be painting my commander.

Image
Heres the colour scheme in action, bases unfinished, but otherwise complete.

I missed step one for the Desolator, but its basically just sprayed black, so you didnt miss much!
Image
Step 2 Is a a combination of pre shading, and base coating, the idea being to both highlight and shade the flatter areas at the same time by airbrushing a gradient across the curves of the model. At this point the effect is very strong and pronounced but gets subtler with each step after this.

Step 3 is a fairly straight forward wash shade over the whole model with nuln oil, wish a few of the raised areas wiped clean of shade. Again the idea is to create strong contrast pre-shade.

Step 4, A super subtle one to tidy up the last of the pre-shading, a little airbrush work of the base colour for the larger flat areas, and a fine edge highlight on any sharp edges.

Step 5: Argothian camoshade wash applied to the whole model
Image
Step 6: Areas airbrushed brown.
Image
Step 7: A second airbrush of black over half the brown areas.
Image
Step 8: An airbrush over the whole model with argothian camoshade to bring colours together slightly, and reinforce the green.
Image
Step 9: Duck egg green highlights on the sharp edges.
Image
Step 10: Create the impression of a face by using an unusual colour to draw the eye, in this case Druichi violet.
Image
Step 11: A satin varnish over the entire model.

Nearly there, more coming soon after the varnish fully dries :)
