Thank you. After seeing your Scourge that's pretty high praise.

I like the "softness" (no idea what to call it) of your color choices - distinct colors but with a soft blending effect. Nice

The blending effect is actually the last layer being a little uneven. VMA Sand over VMA Medium Sea Grey goes slightly green for some reason (not that I'm complaining, it's just hard to patch over).

I dunno what to call it either; colour tone? saturation? hue? level?

As far as bases go - I think the clear bases are a good compromise between stability, optics and game mechanics.

My thoughts as well. I wanted them to be as unobtrusive as possible, which is why I went for the 1.5mm thick instead of the 3mm.

I once borrowed an army that was based on the typical round "Space Marines" bases. Too high, ugly and you had trouble positioning the units next to each other.

The horror… the horror! :P

Those tilea are awesome. Did they specially cut them for you? How much did they cost?

1. I know, right? ;)
2. Yes, they did. Also, it's engraving, not cutting—oh, well, they cut them into nice squares, but the rest is engraving.
3. About $400 NZ (actual cost was $0, because my boss paid for it as my Christmas bonus).

If you want something like that, talk to local CNC places. I designed the files myself, so that saved a fair amount of money. If you want, I could put the file up on imgur or something.

Just some quick phone camera pics of the first 4 (of 8) tiles decked out in mounting board for relief effects.

I'm running some more demo games on Sunday, so I'll have pics with buildings, overpasses, etc then too.

They look great. Especially with the mount board on. Are they all completely modular or do they need to stay in the formation to work?

They're modular, but not perfectly so, given different road edges, such as some being single or double lane, and some blank edges, but within that constraint, I have made them as versatile as possible. With the ones I've done up so far, there are two key arrangements, but as each arrangement can be rotated through 90º to give a different layout by changing opposing board edges, that actually gives me eight layouts.
