Congratulations, Post-Human brother!

What other fleets were there, and how did they do?

Details, Tauwolf, we need details! :P
I love my job (well, I love having a job), but a bad day of gaming beats a good day of work every time!

As I get them, I'll post some of the other lists. We ended up only having 6 players. Going into the day I honestly had no idea if we'd get 6 or 16 players. Turns out a few of our stalwart local players were unable to make it due to family/work commitments, and a couple of guys from Michigan ended up not coming down. Sad to be missing them, but the six we had were a great group of guys to spend the day with, and the games were all pretty awesome. Several games were decided by the smallest of margins and tactical decisions.

I designed all three scenarios to emphasize simplicity, speed of play, and lots of action. Scenarios 1 & 2 were given out a few weeks in advance for practice. Scenario 3 was kept a surprise till game time.

Image
Direct Deployment: Players roll off, low roll deploys first, alternate deploying battlegroups
All Battlegroups begin the game on the table, within a 6” deployment zone
Score Clusters & Critical Locations
Each cluster has an Industrial, Commercial, and Military sector
Space stations are Medium size, 3VP, each has a Laser Armament

Image
Column Approach: Battlegroups enter from within 24 inches of their deployment corners
Score Clusters, Critical Locations, and destroyed Space Stations (3 VP each, player who makes the killing blow receives the VPs, players may not fire on a Space Station with friendly Ground Assets aboard)
Each cluster has 2 Industrial and 2 Commercial sectors
Space stations are Medium size, each has a Missile Armament

Image
For the third game, I had prepared sets of 20 little toy ships for every player. These were each player's "civillian vessels" that were attempting to flee the planet.
Direct Deployment: Players roll off, low roll deploys first, alternate deploying battlegroups
All Battlegroups begin the game on the table, within the 4” deployment zone
Civilian vessels enter turn 1, spaced fairly evenly across the board edge, and move 9” straight towards
opposite table edge at the beginning of each turn (just before the card flip). They are at Low Orbit until they cross the center line of the board, at which point they are at High Orbit.
1 Hull Point, 3+ Armor, no point defense, and a magical ability to pass through debris unharmed
Each cluster has 2 Military Installations
Score 1 point per destroyed enemy civilian vessel; Clusters; and Kill Points per the following chart:

So the players spent the third game shooting fish in a barrel, while also trying to 'splode each other's fleets. I'm pretty sure everyone had a blast with the scenario. My game against our Shaltari player came down to two points, so if I had failed 3 more civilian vessel armor saves over the course of the game he would have won (and I managed to make *a ton* of those saves - it certainly wasn't him not trying to blow them up!).

We used W/L/D, with 3/1/2 points earned, plus a bonus point whenever a player destroyed more than 50% of their opponent's fleet (in points). The system worked well, creating some variation and separation between very equal players.

Final tally:
Tim---------- PHR---------(4-4-4)----12
Brian (me)-- Scourge----(1-3-4)----8
James L----- PHR---------(1-2-4)----7
Matt--------- UCM---------(1-3-2)----6 (tie)
James T----- Scourge----(4-1-1)----6 (tie)
Ernie-------- Shaltari-----(3-1-2)----6 (tie)

Tim's list was by far the strongest, and he played it well. I'd say his list was the only list of true "tournament strength", and he kicked the crap out of me in round one, then mopped up James T, and finally finished strong against Matt's solid UCM list.

Bruce is the guy who first got our local community into DFC, and has run more demos in the past 4 months than I can count. Almost every single one of our two dozen local players got their start with a demo game with (or overseen by) Bruce. The very first piece of Hawk swag has long been reserved for him, and I was glad for the chance to thank him.

And finally, a little tip for people who want to run events: Photoshop, a laser printer, and some scissors.

Super easy setup and tear down of maps. A little roll of painters tape holds them in place.
