1000 pt all-rounder list

PostMon Mar 20, 2017 4:05 pm

Hi all,

I'm still finding my feet in Dropzone but enjoying it immensely and I'm currently trying to build a 1000pt all-comers list (which is pretty tough when considering all the mission variants to play). This is what I've come up with so far and the intention is that this would follow through to a 1500pt list in the future.

I'd really appreciate some input from the more experienced players out there..

HQ - 168pts
1 x Kodiak (+ Lieutenant - Cv3)

Armoured Formation - 111pts
3 x Katana

Legionnaire Corp - 160pts
2 x Legionnaires + Raven A
2 x Legionnaires + Raven A

Legionnaire Corp - 199pts
2 x Flak Teams + Bear
2 x Flak Teams + Bear
Sharing Condor (+ Missile Pods)

Special Ordanance - 285pts
1 x Broadsword + Condor (+ Missile Pods)
1 x Ferrum

Fleet Air Wing - 67pts
1 x Archangel

Total - 1000pts

Pretty good start to a 1000pt list. I would possibly put the Ferrum in the Kodiak group to make it easier to spot for targets for the Kodiaks orbital strike.

You have a decent number of troops in a 1000pt list so that should make up for that fact that you don't have any exotic CQB choices. Good coverage of AA, decent Anti Tank.

Solid start :) Good luck with your games

Thanks!

Played my first game (military complex) against Shaltari with this list. It resulted in a loss but some of that was down to some bad tactics on my part (and the fact my opponent seemed to make almost all his passive saves).

I'm also starting to see why a lot of players don't like fast movers in their lists, although the Arch Angel did manage to bring a Haven gate down in the end!

Still, reasonably happy with how the army performed (my tactical faux pas aside), so I just need to consider the next 500 pts now...

Looks decent to me if a little light on special infantry. Looks like you could lose some Legionaires and get a squad of either Hazards or Praetorians. Not sure on the points off the top of my head but losing the missile pods would be a great start. They really are not worth the point investment overall.

Don't disagree with what you're saying. I'd have like to have had some hazards or praetorians but was struggling to find space (and points).

Hawk Liam was right to suggest switching the ferrum into the HQ but that takes me up to my point limit for the group, so no exotic slots available and I'd rather keep the scout units with the HQ because of the Kodiak's IF.

To be honest I feel I have enough AT capability in the army so would sooner take praetorians to boost CQB over Haz suits but they are just a touch too pricey and I would be left with 3 squads of infantry, over a slightly more mission flexible 4. I may give haz suits ago though by dropping a legionnaires squad and the missile pods as I may just squeeze those in

The intention was to add a fifth or even sixth squad into the 1500 point list but I've yet to try writing the 500point add on to this force.

Keep in mind that Ferrum drones also are scouts, and thanks to their higher speed and flight are much better at it than Wolverines.

Praetorians aren't great at CQB, they tend to get murdered by other faction CQB specialists. You're better off with Hazards that are resilient against falling masonry, and avoiding CQB where possible.

^This. It's what I do. Hazard Suits' best feature is their durability against Falling Masonry. Avoid CQB like the plague!

Noted guys. Thanks! I was considering using Praetorians as a CQB support team but I'll give those suits a try! I'll follow up with my 500 point bolt on and let you know how I faired after a few games at 1500.
